Existing Utah law already requires political ads in audio and video formats to disclose when they contain AI-generated content, and this bill extends that requirement to printed political materials — such as mailers, flyers, newspaper ads, and brochures — paid for by campaigns, political parties, or political committees. Any printed ad containing AI-generated images must display the words "This advertisement includes visual content generated by AI" clearly on its face. Voters who receive printed campaign materials will now be able to tell when the images in those materials were created by AI rather than being authentic photographs or original artwork.
